Birgit Nilsson
Birgit Nilsson, the world famous soprano, was born in Bjäre. In the family home where Birgit lived as a child is now the Birgit Nilsson Museum. Here you can get glimse of her life, both private and on stage.

Birgit Nilsson, the world famous soprano, was born and lived for many years in Bjäre. After she had become a famous star, I had the privilege of working with her for about 40 years. Together with members in a local organization, Bjäre Härads Hembygdsförening, I organized a number of concerts with Birgit Nilsson in our home church in V. Karup. These concerts were arranged for the benefit of our organization – of which Birgit was a member. During these years we organized about 40 concerts. Every concert was sold out – of course! When we prepared these concerts, Birgit and I met several times to discuss details in the arrangements. These meetings gave me the opportunity of taking many private photos of Birgit, some of which can be found here:
